In the installation process of the CivilFEM for ANSYS software, you have to distinguish two parts: license server and CivilFEM software. This Installation is completely independent of ANSYS installation, although CivilFEM needs ANSYS to run.
CivilFEM has a license server which purpose is to offer the floating license in a LAN (Local Area Network). Every computer in this local net, working with the CivilFEM for ANSYS installed, can execute the software obtaining CivilFEM licenses from the machine of our net in which the license server has been installed. It is advisable that both ANSYS and CivilFEM license servers are installed in the same machine to centralize all of the licenses needed to execute the CivilFEM for ANSYS software. It is recommended that the server computer is always switched on, so the CivilFEM for ANSYS licence can always be available in the net.

In the case, your license is linked to your server, then you must get the identification file through the LM-X Configuration Tool. This application is available at the following URL: http://www.civilfem.com/download/lmxconfigtool.exe.
Just press the Save to file button and then will be generated a file which you must send to your supplier. This file is used to generate the license linked to the machine used as server CivilFEM.
Download and run the CivilFEM LM-X License Server. After accepting the license contract, the following dialog is shown where you can choose the installation directory of the license server (it is advisable to leave the default path).

After the installation of CivilFEM License Server, new items become available on the Start Menu:

The server works as a Service and has to be started to be used. Note: LM-X Server uses port 6200 by default. This port must be opened.
Download and run the CivilFEM installation. After accepting the license agreement, you can choose the installation path and the CivilFEM’s help language:
Then you may select the components to install and the ANSYS versions that will be supported (in case you have several versions of ANSYS installed on your computer or plan to install them).
