Vehicle Editor

 

 

In this window it is possible to create new vehicles (~BLVST, ~BLVA, ~BLVB, ~BLVC, ~BLVD, ~BLVEND commands), import form library (~BLVLIB command), modify (~BLVMDF command), delete vehicles (~BLVDEL command) and list the created vehicles (~BLVLST command).

 

The Vehicle editor window has the following structure:

 

 

 

 

The object tree is a schematic representation of the group of vehicles, columns, rows and loads. All the properties of the object tree elements can be observed in the main window and some of them can be modified in the properties window., in this window the grey data can not be edited by the user and the black one is editable.

 

In the upper part of the window there is a tool bar. Its appearance will change depending on the elements selected at each moment.

 

 

Object Tree

 

In the tree object the vehicles are represented by the user name and number.

 

By clicking the right button on the tree objects elements, a context menu will appear, showing the available actions for the element or elements group.

 

For the vehicles it is possible to:

 

  • Insert vehicle:            Insert a new vehicle.
  • Copy vehicle:             Copy a vehicle.
  • Delete vehicle:           Delete a vehicle (~BLVDEL command).
  • List vehicle:               List the selected vehicles (~blvlST command).
  • Vehicle library:          Library vehicles import utility. Import new vehicles from CivilFEM library (~blvlIB command).

 

If a vehicle is already selected in the context menu it is possible to:

 

  • Columns:                    Edit and modify the column number of the vehicle.
  • Rows:                         Edit and modify the column number of the vehicle.
  • Loads:                        Edit and modify the column number of the vehicle.

 

 

Properties Window

 

This window, located under the object tree, has three aims:

 

  • To show the properties of each object or group of selected objects. Each time an item is selected (vehicles, rows, etc.) the window will show all of its properties.
  • To allow data to modified. The selected item may have properties that can be changed. To change them, the value shown in this window has to be changed by placing the mouse on it and typing or selecting the new value.
  • To be used as a dialog in certain actions. In some cases, when, for example, a new vehicle is created, it is necessary to type in a series of values or properties. The Properties window will change its appearance to be used as a dialog.

 

 

Tool Bar

 

The tool bar is located at the upper part of the tendon editor. It is made up of a group of buttons and combo boxes. The tool bar has two areas:

 

The fixed area, which will have the same appearance at any time, and the variable area, which will change depending on the situation, showing only those buttons which are applicable.

 

The fixed area of the tool bar has the following components:

 

                                  Exit saving all changes.

                                  Exit without saving changes.

                                  Save changes.

                                  Show this help document.

                                  List the vehicles properties (~BLVLST command).

      Elevation view scale.

                                   Insert a vehicle

                                   Copy a vehicle

                                   Delete a vehicle.

                                   CivilFEM’s vehicle library.

                                   Undo button.

                                   Redo button.

 

The variable area of the tool bar has a series of buttons which will be activated and deactivated depending on the situation, the selected item at that time, etc. The actions that can be performed with these buttons are the same as the one that can be done through the right button menu in the object tree.

 

The right button menu depends on the context and all the options are available in the tool bar.

 

 

The main window is used as a graphical illustration. The vertical scale can be fitted trought the combo boxes of the tool bar. By clicking the right button, the following options are displayed.

 

  • Zoom In: A zoom of the model is shown. The center of the image is the point where the right click was done.
  • Zoom Out: A zoom out of the model will be shown.
  • Zoom Box: A box can be created by clicking the two corners of it on the screen. A zoom will be shown of this box.
  • Fit: The initial view of the model is displayed, showing the complete dimensions of the vehicle.
  • Auto-Fit: If enabled, it will show the complete dimensions of the model, even if the window is resized.
  • Move: The graphics shown in the window can be panned with this utility.
  • Distance: The distance between two points is calculated by clicking on the desired two points of the screen. The result will be shown on the lower bar of the window.
  • Angle: The angle between two segments is calculated by clicking on the three points of the screen which define the segments. The result will be shown on the lower bar of the window.
  • Save as...: The graphical image is exported as a vector type graphics file (*.WMF) or as a raster bitmap image (*.BMP).

 

 

When clicking on the list button, the following dialog appears:

 

 

  • KEYGEN:       Selected vehicles general properties to List.
  • KEYGEOM:   Selected vehicles geometric properties to list.
  • KEYLOAD:     Selected vehicles loads to list.

 

On clicking CivilFEM library vehicle button, we acced to the following dialog:

 

 

  • Group: Norm or group the vehicle belongs to.
  • Name: Name or vehicle type.
  • Factor: Load factor to apply. The user has to define it.
