~BRGEN, Option, SizeV, SizeT, SizeL, SizeH, TPT

Generates the bridge model

PREP7 : BRIDGE AND CIVIL NON LINEARITIES: Bridge model generation

Option

S

Only generates the solid model.

F

Generates the solid model and meshes the first section.

SH

Creates the model with Shell43, Shell63 or Shell181 element type. Only valid for Box sections.

B

Creates the model with Beam 44 element type. Only valid for Box and Slabs constant cross sections.

A

Generates the complete finite element model (default value).

SizeV

Size of vertical divisions.

SizeT

Size of transverse divisions.

SizeL

Size of longitudinal divisions.

SizeH

Size of divisions in the holes outline.

TPT

For the beam models with Beam44 elements, it indicates the tessella type of the created cross sections.

Value

Description

0

Tessella with intermediate nodes.

1

Tessella without intermediate nodes.

Notes

- This command creates the following components for the solid element model:

NODES:

CF_BR_DECK_NODE

Road surface nodes.

CF_BR_SECS_NODE_##

Nodes of the section located at the coordinate system number ##.

ELEMENTS:

CF_BR_DECK_SURF

SURF154 elements of the road surface.

CF_BR_SECS_ELEM_##

Elements of the section located at the coordinate system number ##.

AREAS:

CF_BR_DECK_AREA

Road surface areas.

VOLUMES:

CF_BR_SECS_VOLU_##

Volumes subsequent to coordinate system ##.

CF_BR_HOLES_VOLU

Volumes of holes (all together).

ASSEMBLY:

BDECK

Nodes and SURF154 elements of the road surface. It is made up by:

CF_BR_DECK_NODE and CF_BR_DECK_SURF.

Nodes and element components are only created if meshed from the model.

The components for the shell element model are the following:

NODES:

CF_BR_DECK_NODE

Road surface nodes.

CF_BR_SECS_NODE_##

Nodes of the section located at the coordinate system number ##.

ELEMENTS:

CF_BR_DECK_SURF

SURF154 elements of the road surface.

CF_BR_SECS_ELEM_##

Elements of the section located at the coordinate system number ##.

AREAS:

CF_BR_DECK_AREA

Road surface areas.

CF_BR_SECS_AREA_##

Areas of the section located at the coordinate system number ##.

ASSEMBLY:

BDECK

Nodes and SURF154 elements of the road surface. It is made up by:

CF_BR_DECK_NODE and CF_BR_DECK_SURF.

- If Option=B the created components are: CF_BR_NODE and CF_BR_ELEM for nodes and elements and ‘assembly’ BDECK that includes these two.

- In the actual version of the Bridge Module, the beginning and end cross sections of the model may have different topology, but they should have the same number of holes.

- The slab cross section bridges must have the same cells number. Therefore, the degenerated zones (for example, the bottom flanges) must have the same degeneration in every cross sections of the bridge.

- The slab cross sections are considered as constant section if all sections that define the bridge have located their points in the same local coordinate system.

- The divisions for constant slab cross section bridges and box cross section bridges are defined with the ~BRSDIV command, with the SIZEV, SIZET, and SIZEH arguments ignored. SIZEL is maintained as longitudinal element size. If the Option=B is chosen will take into account the TPT argument.
In the slab and box cross section bridges, in case of generating solid element model, the MSHKEY, 2 command should be used before applying the command ~BRGEN. With this command, ANSYS will try to mesh the model using mapped meshing for which these cross sections are prepared.
