~BRADDPL, MP1, MP2, Ri, Rf, ang

Defines the bridge layout in plan view

PREP7: BRIDGE AND CIVIL NON LINEARITIES: Bridge model generation

MP1, MP2

Millage points that limit the stretch. MP1 should have been defined before (with the ~BRINIP command), the MP2 position in the space is created with this command. If MP1 is omitted the program takes MP2 of the last defined stretch.

Ri, Rf

Initial and final curvature radii. If Ri = Null then RF is taken from the previous stretch, but if this stretch isn’t defined (initial stretch) then the radius is taken as infinity. If RF = 0 or Null then the radius is taken as infinity.

If Ri = Rf ¹ Null or 0® it is a circumference.

If Ri ¹ Rf ® it is a clothoid.

ang

Angle that forms the tangent to the section in the point MP1 with the tangent to the previous section in the same point.

Notes

- Considered in plan view, the MP’s line, is a succession of sections that can be straight segments, arches of a circle or arches of a clothoid.

- To completely define in the space the road axis, two complementary families of commands are used:

- Definition in plan view (previously described) ~BRADDPL, MP1, MP2, Ri, Rf, ang

To define the road axis in the space, two command families will be used:

-          Definition in plan view

~BRADDPL, MP1, MP2, Ri, Rf, ang

-          Definition in elevation view

~BRADDEL, MP1, MP2, ii, if

  1. From the first MP (defined with the ~BRINIP command) each stretch situates new points, being supported each time in the final extreme of the previous stretch.

  1. The first MP point always corresponds to the definite point with the ~BRINIP command.

  1. The sections should be introduced correlatively in the numbering (without leaps neither gaps in the MP’s).

  1. A null or zero value, for a radius indicates null curvature.

  1. If Ri = Rf = Null:0     the section is straight

If Ri = Rf ¹ Null:0      it is a circumference.

If Ri ¹ Rf                   it is clothoid.

  1. Ri and Rf have positive sign if the curve rotates to the left, view from the positive MP and they negative sign on the contrary case.

  1. The commands definition in plan and elevation view do not have necessarily to utilize the same MP’s, but the final and initial trajectory points should coincide.

  1. The “ang" parameter in the first section, measures the angle with the vector (v1, v2, 0) in the definition in plan view (see ~BRINIP command).
