~SD2SH

~SD2SH, NodeComp, ElemComp, SHVTXNUM, SHPRONUM, REINF, MC, - ,TH, TOLTH, CSYS, RMSH

Generates dummy shells equivalent to a solid elements model and projects the results of the solid model into the shells.

PREP7: Utilities

NodeComp

Name of the component with the external nodes.

ElemComp

Name of the component with the elements of the model or part of the model, which will serve as basis of the dummy shell elements.

SHVTXNUM

Initial number for the shell vertices that will be created.

SHPRONUM

Initial number for the shell properties that will be created.

REINF

Material number that defines the reinforcement.

MC

Mechanical cover of the reinforcement.

TH

Thickness verification value (default value = 0.0).

TOLTH

Thickness tolerance (default value = 1 centimeter).

CSYS

Local coordinate system to specify an orientation (optional).

RMSH

Mesh refinement of external elements. Admited values: 1, 2, 3 (1 coarse and 3 for fine mesh).

This command has a different syntax that allows clearing any previously defined dummy shells group:

~SD2SH, CLEAR, GROUP

GROUP

Dummy shells group number to be cleared. If ALL, delete all the dummy shells groups created.

Notes

- If no shell vertex or shell properties initial number is specified, the following number to the maximum defined will be used.

- If a thickness tolerance is specified (TOLTH ¹ 0.0), CivilFEM will round the calculated thickness in fractions of this tolerance, in order to reduce the number of shell vertices and shell properties created.

- If a thickness verification value is specified (TH), CivilFEM will show warning messages if the thickness of the solid elements model is different from this constant thickness at any point (using the tolerance specified in TOLTH). This is useful to check constant thickness models.

- A local coordinate system can be used to specify the direction of the normals of the dummy shell elements.

- Each time the command is issued to create a dummy group, a series of components with the dummy elements are created (see Theory Manual). The number of the group will be assigned automatically from 1 onwards.
